Bus Driver is a realistic bus-driving simulator for those who want to try their hand at driving a bus around town.
This game comes from the developer Scssoft, which has created other interesting simulation games such as 18 Wheels of Steel and Euro Truck Simulator. The object of this game is to pick up, transport and drop off passengers on your bus route. You can drive up to 12 different types of buses, from a school bus to a double-decker red bus to a tour bus. The game takes place in a large city, with 30 different routes and several different types of driving jobs, including transporting tourists and prisoners.
Your goal is to make your stops on time and obey all the traffic laws. You incur penalties for mistakes, such as driving on the wrong side of the road, missing a stop or being late. It is easy to remember that this is not a racing game, since these buses move quite slowly and turn awkwardly. The only controls you really need to use are the arrow keys and the "enter" key.
The graphics are not too bad for an indie game, and the intro has a nice soundtrack, but in-game you only hear the realistic sound effects of the bus brakes, the doors or the screaming passengers when you run into something. The game keeps track of your score, how many passengers you have on board and how happy they are with your driving.
One of the major drawbacks is that the trial version is only available for 30 minutes. Make sure not to pause the game for too long, since it still eats away at your trial period.
